The Journey of BECOMING a Client at Steel Strength Training

“What does becoming a client at Steel even look like? What has to happen before a client signs up to work with you?”



Great question! Let me pull back the curtain and show you everything that happens from the moment you find out about us to the moment you say “Yes!” to working with us.


I’m doing this so you can know exactly what to expect if you’re considering joining us. AND to show you that this is a zero-pressure process. We aren’t here to talk you into something you don’t want or need. We are here and ready to work with you only if you are ready to change your life and you think we’re the right fit for you!

What the Heck is Steel Strength Training?


Part 1 is all about finding out about us for the first time. I do my best to make sure we can be seen by as many people as possible in hopes of helping as many people as possible!


Maybe you find out about us from a Google search when you’re searching for the Best Personal Trainers in Birmingham.


Or you could find out about us from a Facebook or Instagram post.


You might come across one of our YouTube videos or a blog like this one.


Perhaps you walked or drove by our building and found out about us that way.



Or maybe you found out about us my favorite way- through a friend or family member whose life has been changed by being part of Steel Strength Training!


It doesn’t really matter how you find out about us though. What matters is that you do find out about us!



Getting Interested


After finding out we even exist, you have to get interested in what we do, how we do things, and who we do things for. If you know who we are but aren’t interested in working with us…well…of course you’ll never sign up to work with us!


After discovering who we are, most people check out our website or social media pages to hear more of our message.


You might be drawn in by the amazing progress in the before/after photos you see.

Maybe you like WHO you see in the photos. Maybe they look like you instead of the cover model on the latest Health, Fitness, or Diet magazine.


You might like our core values, or our mission to help change as many lives through strength training as possible.


You might be drawn to how well we serve our clients or how much fun we have.


Maybe you saw all the 5-star Google Reviews.


Maybe your friend convinced you with all the amazing things they said about us. Or maybe they just annoyed you so much about coming to Steel that the only way to get them to shut up is for you to come to Steel!


Or maybe, just maybe, you’re interested in us because we’re 1/4 mile from your office. Nothing wrong with practicality!



Raising Your Hand


After you find out enough about us to be interested you have to raise your hand.


You need to know who we are, but we need to know who YOU are if we’re ever going to help you change your life.


Which is why you either fill out the form on our website with your name, phone number, and e-mail address. Or you send us a Facebook or Instagram message. Or you stop by the gym in person to get more info.


Regardless of how you “raise your hand” to show you’re interested and want more info, I will contact you to schedule the next step in the journey.



A Zero-Pressure Phone Call


The next step is a zero-pressure phone call where we’ll discuss your goals and allll the details of the program. I promise to go over everything with you, including cost. And I’ll answer every question you have.


This is NOT where we sign you up. In fact I have a policy that we do not sign clients up over the phone.


The whole point of this call is for us to get to know each other without any pressure to make a decision. I’ve found it’s the best way for each of us to decide if we would be a good fit to work together.


Of course we want to help as many people as possible, BUT I want to make sure that we’re a great fit to work together. So you get great results, so we both enjoy the process, and so we can work together for a long time!


So what happens if we both feel we’d be a great fit to work together?



The Trial Session


At the end of the phone call, if we both want to move forward, we’ll schedule a Trial Session.


At this point you have all the information you need about the program. So the Trial Session is the last step to make sure you actually like being around us! I joke that we do the trial session to ensure you don’t hate us lol


For your trial session you’ll come in, meet some of the Steel team, see the gym, and do a workout. The workout won’t be anything crazy (not that we ever do anything crazy with workouts!) It’ll be an opportunity for us to assess your current fitness level, and for you to get a little workout in while experiencing what it’s like to work with us.


After the workout is done, you have the chance to RUN OUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN!


But if you don’t run, then we’ll sit down and we’ll ask you 3 questions:


  1. How was the workout?

  2. How are you feeling?

  3. Are you ready to get started?



Signing Up


At this point we’ll set up your profile and payment in our database. Then we’ll get you set up in the scheduling app if you’re signing up as a group client, or we’ll get you on our Calendar if you’re signing up as a 1 on 1 client.


Then we’ll schedule your nutrition talk and your first set up pictures and measurements.



It’s Official


And just like that you’re officially a member of the Steel Strength Training family! Welcome!


Now it’s time to change your life!!
